2. Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026. This policy describes what data Astrofarm One collects today, in its TestFlight beta form. It will need updating as features change, particularly if the remaining social features (finding other users, leaderboards, the forum) currently marked “coming soon” are switched on, and once payments or telescope bookings go live.

2.1 Who is responsible for your data

The controller is the operator identified in the Legal Notice above. All privacy questions can be sent to the contact address above.

2.2 What we collect and why

  • Account data: email address and a chosen username, created via Supabase Authentication, needed to run your account and let you log back in.

  • Profile data: avatar image, banner image, a short bio, and equipment details you choose to enter, used to display your profile within the app.

  • Captures: photos you upload of the night sky, stored via Cloudinary, together with any title, description, or equipment notes you add. Captures are shown publicly in the app’s community feed to other users by default; you can delete a capture at any time from within the app. Other social features (finding other users, leaderboards, the forum) remain marked “coming soon”.

  • Reports and blocks: if you report a photo or block another user, we store the report reason, the reported content’s ID, and your blocking preferences. This is used only to review reported content and to filter blocked users’ content from your view; it is not shared with third parties. A photo that receives multiple reports may be automatically hidden pending review.

  • Plate-solving data: to identify what a photo shows, images are sent to Astrometry.net, an external plate-solving service, for analysis. This is the one point where a photo you upload leaves our own systems and goes to a third party.

  • Skill Tree progress: quiz results, completion timestamps, and unlocked tiers, used to track your learning progress within the app.

  • Location data: used to calculate accurate sunset times and to orient the Sky Map to what is visible from where you are. Location is used on-device for this calculation and is not stored as a persistent location history.

  • Technical data: device type, app version, and diagnostic/crash information, sent to Sentry, an error-monitoring service, to help us identify and fix bugs.

2.3 Legal basis for processing

Account, captures, and Skill Tree data are processed because they are necessary to provide the app you asked to use (performance of a contract, GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). Location access is requested with your explicit permission (consent, Art. 6(1)(a)) and can be withdrawn at any time via your device settings.

2.4 Who else sees your data

  • Supabase, hosts the app’s database and authentication.

  • Cloudinary, hosts and serves uploaded images.

  • Astrometry.net, receives a copy of a photo when you use plate-solving, in order to identify the object in it.

  • Sentry, receives crash and diagnostic data to help us identify and fix bugs.

  • Apple, processes your TestFlight enrollment and, once subscriptions launch, your in-app purchases.

Supabase stores data in the EU (London, UK), Sentry’s data residency for this project is also in the EU, and Cloudinary’s infrastructure is similarly EU/US-distributed depending on the CDN edge serving a request. No additional international-transfer clause is needed for Supabase or Sentry. Astrometry.net is US-based, so photos sent there for plate-solving do leave the EU, this remains the one point needing a transfer disclosure.

2.5 How long we keep your data

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account and associated data directly in the app, under Profile > Settings > Delete Account.

2.6 Your rights

Under GDPR, you can ask to see what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask for a copy in a portable format, or object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact the address above. You can also lodge a complaint with the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD).

2.7 Children

Astrofarm One is not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will remove it.

2.8 Changes to this policy

If what the app collects or does with your data changes, particularly when community features or paid bookings launch, this policy will be updated and the date at the top will change.

3. Terms of Use

Last updated: September 2026. By using Astrofarm One, you agree to these terms.

3.1 What the app is

Astrofarm One is a gamified astronomy learning app, currently in beta testing via TestFlight. Photos you upload are shared publicly in the app’s community feed by default. Some other features described in the app, including finding other users, leaderboards, the forum, and telescope booking, are marked as coming soon and are not yet active. Features, pricing, and availability may change before public launch.

3.2 Your account

  • You need an account to use the app. Keep your login details to yourself.

  • You can delete your account at any time from within the app.

  • We may suspend or terminate accounts used to violate these terms or applicable law.

3.3 Content you create

Photos and other content you upload remain yours. By uploading a capture, you grant Astrofarm One a license to store, process (including sending it to Astrometry.net for plate-solving), and display that content within the app’s community feed, where it is visible to other users by default. You can delete a capture at any time from within the app. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to upload what you upload, and for not uploading anything illegal, infringing, or harmful.

3.4 Acceptable use

The following applies to any content or behavior in the app: no illegal content, no harassment of other users, no impersonation, and no attempts to disrupt or reverse-engineer the service. You can report a photo or block another user directly in the app; content that receives multiple reports may be automatically hidden pending review, and we may remove content or suspend accounts that violate this policy.

3.5 Telescope bookings (not yet active)

Telescope-time booking is not yet available in this version of the app. When it launches, these terms will be updated to include cancellation, refund, and weather-related-failure policies before booking goes live.

3.6 No warranty, limitation of liability

The app is provided during a beta test and may contain bugs, incomplete features, or downtime. To the extent permitted by Spanish and EU law, Astrofarm One is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, and liability for indirect or consequential damages is excluded. This does not limit liability where it cannot legally be limited, such as for gross negligence or willful misconduct.

3.7 Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the app develops, particularly around launch. Continued use after an update means you accept the new terms.

3.8 Governing law

These terms are governed by Spanish law. Disputes will be handled by the courts of Spain, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rules that apply in your country of residence if you are an EU consumer.

3.9 Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to the contact address in the Legal Notice above.
